Needing a car repair was not on my bingo card this last weekend. I was driving down from Boston heading to the Cape for the Fourth of July weekend. It has been about 100° and I have started to hit traffic and of course the dreaded check engine light goes on. I find myself panicking at 11 PM with still an hour to go and unfamiliar with the area. I get off the exit trying to figure out what to do. I get my dog out for a walk and to do a little bit of pacing to release some anxiety and that is when I spot the light on at the One Stop Auto Shop. I explained my situation to Frank and he immediately tells me to drive my car over. He runs some quick diagnostics and tells me indeed service is necessary and assures me that he will have my car ready for me tomorrow. Never in 1 million years would I expect the immediate relief and the ability for me to get my car on a holiday weekend. Less than 24 hours, I was able to pick up my car. Frank kept me in the loop on both the progress and the cost and was very fair in price again considering the big holiday weekend. Car is running great.

Frank is the most knowledgeable mechanic I know. He will never cut corners and is also the most reasonably priced Auto shop I've had the pleasure of dealing with. He's professional and personable and treats his customers like family.
I got a nail in my tire on RT 3 on the way from the airport heading to Cape Cod. It was on Sunday around 5 PM so i figured no place would be open and I would have to drive around with a nail in my tire. But i googled mechanics just to see if anyone was open and miraculously One Stop Auto Shop was and Frank the owner was an absolute lifesaver. He was abled to plug my tire and get me back on the road quickly. He is a very knowledgeable and experienced mechanic and provided fast and friendly service. I was surprised to find that the shop itself is more than 120 years old and had an amazing history.

Common questions and tips from our work with Plymouth customers.
- Can a tire with a nail in it be repaired?
- Usually, if the nail is in the tread area. Under common industry guidelines, punctures up to about a quarter inch across in the tread can be repaired. Damage to the sidewall or shoulder, punctures that are too large, or a tire that was driven on while flat usually means replacement. Leave the nail in place until it's inspected, because pulling it out can turn a slow leak into a flat.
- What is the difference between a plug and a patch?
- A plug fills the puncture channel from the outside. A patch is bonded to the inside of the tire after the tire is taken off the wheel. A combination patch-plug seals both the hole and the inner liner, and many tire makers prefer it. Which repair fits depends on where the damage is and how big it is.
Tip
Check Tire Pressure When Temperatures Drop
Tire pressure drops as the air gets colder, so New England tires often run low in late fall and winter. Check the pressure monthly, when the tires are cold, using the number on your driver's door jamb label rather than the one on the sidewall. Low pressure wears the tire edges faster, hurts handling on wet or icy roads and can hide a slow leak.
