Needing a car repair was not on my bingo card this last weekend. I was driving down from Boston heading to the Cape for the Fourth of July weekend. It has been about 100° and I have started to hit traffic and of course the dreaded check engine light goes on. I find myself panicking at 11 PM with still an hour to go and unfamiliar with the area. I get off the exit trying to figure out what to do. I get my dog out for a walk and to do a little bit of pacing to release some anxiety and that is when I spot the light on at the One Stop Auto Shop. I explained my situation to Frank and he immediately tells me to drive my car over. He runs some quick diagnostics and tells me indeed service is necessary and assures me that he will have my car ready for me tomorrow. Never in 1 million years would I expect the immediate relief and the ability for me to get my car on a holiday weekend. Less than 24 hours, I was able to pick up my car. Frank kept me in the loop on both the progress and the cost and was very fair in price again considering the big holiday weekend. Car is running great.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY
Frank is the most knowledgeable mechanic I know. He will never cut corners and is also the most reasonably priced Auto shop I've had the pleasure of dealing with. He's professional and personable and treats his customers like family.
I got a nail in my tire on RT 3 on the way from the airport heading to Cape Cod. It was on Sunday around 5 PM so i figured no place would be open and I would have to drive around with a nail in my tire. But i googled mechanics just to see if anyone was open and miraculously One Stop Auto Shop was and Frank the owner was an absolute lifesaver. He was abled to plug my tire and get me back on the road quickly. He is a very knowledgeable and experienced mechanic and provided fast and friendly service. I was surprised to find that the shop itself is more than 120 years old and had an amazing history.

Common questions and tips from our work with Plymouth customers.
- Is it safe to drive with the check engine light on?
- It depends on how the light behaves. If it stays on steadily and the car drives normally, you can usually keep driving, but get it scanned soon. If it flashes, the engine is usually misfiring, and unburned fuel can overheat and damage the catalytic converter. In that case, ease off, pull over somewhere safe and call before you drive any farther.
- Does a code reader tell you exactly which part failed?
- No. A trouble code tells you which system or circuit flagged a problem, not which part to replace. An oxygen sensor code, for example, can come from the sensor, its wiring, a vacuum leak or a fuel problem. That's why a proper diagnosis follows the scan with component testing. It confirms the cause before you pay for parts.
Tip
Note When the Problem Shows Up
Before you bring the car in, write down what you notice. When does it happen: cold starts, highway speed, braking, turning? Note any sounds, smells or vibrations, and whether the warning light is steady or flashing. Intermittent problems can hide during a short test drive, so these details help narrow down the cause faster and keep diagnostic time down.
