  • Needing a car repair was not on my bingo card this last weekend. I was driving down from Boston heading to the Cape for the Fourth of July weekend. It has been about 100° and I have started to hit traffic and of course the dreaded check engine light goes on. I find myself panicking at 11 PM with still an hour to go and unfamiliar with the area. I get off the exit trying to figure out what to do. I get my dog out for a walk and to do a little bit of pacing to release some anxiety and that is when I spot the light on at the One Stop Auto Shop. I explained my situation to Frank and he immediately tells me to drive my car over. He runs some quick diagnostics and tells me indeed service is necessary and assures me that he will have my car ready for me tomorrow. Never in 1 million years would I expect the immediate relief and the ability for me to get my car on a holiday weekend. Less than 24 hours, I was able to pick up my car. Frank kept me in the loop on both the progress and the cost and was very fair in price again considering the big holiday weekend. Car is running great.

  • Frank is the most knowledgeable mechanic I know. He will never cut corners and is also the most reasonably priced Auto shop I've had the pleasure of dealing with. He's professional and personable and treats his customers like family.

  • I got a nail in my tire on RT 3 on the way from the airport heading to Cape Cod. It was on Sunday around 5 PM so i figured no place would be open and I would have to drive around with a nail in my tire. But i googled mechanics just to see if anyone was open and miraculously One Stop Auto Shop was and Frank the owner was an absolute lifesaver. He was abled to plug my tire and get me back on the road quickly. He is a very knowledgeable and experienced mechanic and provided fast and friendly service. I was surprised to find that the shop itself is more than 120 years old and had an amazing history.

FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Call first so we know you are coming and can fit you in. Unexpected shops closes without warning, and the owner works on your car directly, so walk-ins may hit a wait. Having your phone number lets us reach you when your car is ready or if we find extra work.

We run a full diagnostic scan to read your engine codes and check the main systems. That tells us what needs repair. We explain the findings before we touch anything, and you see the cost upfront. No surprises when you pick up your car.

Keep driving if it is safe; a check engine light does not mean your engine will fail right now. Call us or come by the shop. We will run diagnostics to see if it is a loose gas cap, bad sensor, or something that needs repair. Some codes are simple fixes; others need more work.

We work on cars from Plymouth, Sandwich, Mashpee, Falmouth, and the South Shore towns heading toward Boston. If you are close to Route 3 or Route 25, we can likely help you. Call with your location and we will let you know.

Brake work depends on what needs fixing. A simple pad replacement costs less than replacing pads and rotors. We inspect your brakes, show you what is worn, and give you the price before we start. Call or bring your car in for a look.

Call the shop to ask about weekend hours and whether the owner is available. We do emergency repairs when we can, but availability changes. Best to call ahead at (781) 689-1757.

Serving Plymouth

Plymouth covers more land than any other town in Massachusetts, so many trips here are long ones. Drivers move between the downtown waterfront, the villages and the wooded neighborhoods in the south end, often on Route 3 and Route 44. Summer brings heavy traffic heading to and from the Cape, and stop-and-go driving is hard on brakes. Winters bring snow, ice and road salt, which speed up rust on brake lines, rotors and other parts underneath the car. Coastal air adds to that corrosion. Back roads with potholes and frost heaves can knock wheels out of balance and damage tires.

Areas of Plymouth we serve

  • Plymouth Rock
  • Route 3
  • Plymouth Long Beach

Why Plymouth customers need this work

Long distances and highway miles mean a check engine light or a soft brake pedal is something Plymouth drivers can't ignore for long. Salt and sea air eat at rotors, calipers and brake hardware, so brake inspections here often turn up rust as well as worn pads. Construction areas and rough back roads leave nails and debris that cause slow leaks. A shop that finds the real cause, whether it's a sensor, a seized caliper or a puncture in the tread, keeps a small problem from turning into a breakdown on Route 3.

Recent work in the Plymouth area

  • 01.Diagnosing a check engine light after a highway drive
  • 02.Replacing rust-pitted rotors and worn pads after winter
  • 03.Plugging or patching a tire with a nail in the tread
